Daniel's been busy

Daniel has been a busy boy! Last week we went and visited Rachel and Jack. Julie and Rachel worked together, and now they each have a handsome boy each! Jack is doing really well with his tummy time, something Daniel's mum will have to start doing (bad OT that she is!).

It's also been very hot, in the morning Gobi and Albert come in to the cool of the bedroom (no they don't sleep there all night!!!) Daniel is being accepted by the dog and the cat. Gobi would like nothing more than to lick Daniel all over and take off with his toys. Albert is dealing with spending nights outside. Albert has given Daniel's hair a lick on occassion.

Daniel went to the coast to see Nana and Poppy. Australia Day, with a big BBQ and lots of friends (Ollie, Christine, Dennis, Marcia, Tanya, Ranier, Luka, Mia, Melissa, Stuart, Hamish, Jane, Al, Madelyn, Lachlan, Amanda, Nick, Harrison and Benjamin!!!!!!!!). Frances stopped by for a quick cuddle. This time next year Daniel will be able to enjoy the pool like his cousin Benji did (riding on Poppy's back). Daniel spent most of his time at the beach sleeping and eating!

The latest photo was taken this morning at 5am! Daniel decided that 4am would be a great time to get up and as you can see by the photo he's bright eyed ready for the day, too bad mum isn't!

Better Smiling Photos

These are better photos of Daniel smiling, I think he is smiling because he is listening to eighties music on the radio, a man after his mother's heart! He's wearing an outfit from Auntie Julie in Tennessee, he's looking pretty happy to have it on! For Australia Day we are headed to the beach to Cabarita. We are going to have a BBQ with friends, swim at the beach and enjoy spending some time with Nana and Poppy. We may even get a photo of Daniel in the board shorts Auntie Julie sent him!!!

Now we are smiling.......

Unfortunately I am not the fastest at capturing Daniel's smiles. He does smile, has been for the last week, he's more alert and enjoying the world around him. We have been heading out each afternoon for a walk.

Daniel Meets Lachlan Milne

Here is Daniel with his new friend, Lachlan Alexander Milne. Lachlan was born to Julie's friend Jane. Lachlan was a very very healthy 10lb of boy!! 57.5cm long with a 38cm head (well done Jane! Al should buy you diamonds for that one) Daniel got an opportunity to go back to the Mater Hospital to see where he was born.

Here is Daniel with all of his grandparents (except Granddad Ion). He's with Nana and Poppy (Paula and Chris)in the first one, then with Grandpa (Russell) who was the first person to come and see him in hospital, the last photo is with Grandma (Val).

Daniel is a lucky boy to have so many people who love him in his life!!!!

These are photos taken over Christmas. All of our friends have continued with the monkey theme, as Marshall loves Monkeys, Daniel will have no choice!!! As you can see he's quite taken with this monkey that came from Julie in Tennessee. Gobi loves Dad's pool, this was taken on 23rd December. The group photo was taken at Cabarita on Boxing Day..........

Christmas 2006

This is Daniel in his Christmas outfit given to him by Melissa. Someone made the comment in the photo where he has brought his hands together looks as though he is 'hatching an evil plan to take over the world', he better check with his parents first before he does that. Unfortunately the santa hat was too big and a bit too hot for a Brisbane Christmas Day, but we did manage to get a few photos. Daniel looks far from impressed!

Christmas was a low key event in our house this year. We had Marshall's parents visiting from Townsville (Grandma and Grand-dad), and had my dad Grandpa over for a Christmas lunch on the deck.
Boxing Day we went to see my mum and step dad (Nana and Poppy) and Great Nana Murphy. As well as cousins Harrison and Benjamin, and Aunty Amanda and Uncle Nick. Also there was all the dogs, Clancy, Gobi and Ripley! We also had a visit from Jane, Madelyn and Annette.

Next year Christmas will be a busy occassion indeed!

Introducing Daniel

So this is the man, Daniel Ion Newton. He was born at 12.08 am on Monday 11 December 2006. He was born via and emergency caesarian section. He was a healthy 8lb 11ounces (3959g) this weight was different to what I original thought and told everyone, for some reason I thought he was 8lb 5 ounces......... He was 56 cm long and 36cm head circumference complete with lots of black hair! Who would hav thought it? I certainly didn't, I fully expected a bald baby.......

The first photo was taken during our stay at the hospital, the second was taken soon after he was born.

This is Daniel's room, painted by his Mum, Nana and Poppy. The sock monkey likes the room. Uncle Nick built the change table, thanks Nick. It's at a great height for Mum and Dad.
