Mud

Daniel is an outdoors boy, oh to have a child who is happy to be inside! I was being a slack parent and let him go the other day, in the rain and the mud, these photos are the result.

Camping Weekend

OK we finally bit the bullet. Jane has been asking me for years to come camping, so we did it this weekend. Honestly I was a bit apprehensive as it's been quite hot here lately but we went and it was great. Of course we don't own half the gear we need but Jane, Al, Belinda and Scott helped us along and shared their things and knowledge about camping. Daniel and Kate both had a ball. It was terribly hot for the kids to try and sleep during the day but the reprieve was the icy cold creek to have a swim. Daniel had roasted marshmallows and had a great time playing with the kids. On a whole the kids played well but, as is the case when kids (ie Daniel) are over tired, the wheels sometimes fall off! The camp ground was not too far away from Brisbane and in a lovely spot. Hopefully we'll go again soon.

Christmas Day/Boxing Day

We spent Christmas Day with Grandpa, Amanda, Nick, Harrison and Ben. We all went out for quite a civilized lunch at the Sofitel in Brisbane. The children all did really well and behaved beautifully. There was entertainment, a band, a balloon artist and SANTA. As you can see Kate still wanted nothing to do with Santa (poor Santa).
On Boxing Day we headed to the coast and spent more time with the cousins and Nana and Poppy. Ben got a Pirate Ship from Nana. The photo of the boys is a bit "ebony and ivory", Daniel is so fair! Kate also enjoyed sitting on Nana's little chair.
We'll head back to the coast for New Years Eve.

Mister Three!

Daniel turned three on 11 December. He now informs us he is a big boy and getting bigger and bigger.
This birthday was a subdued affair. Grandma and Grand-dad were there which was lovely for Daniel. Nana, Poppy, Harrison, Marina, Joseph, Elizabeth, Jane, Madelyn, Lachlan and Jensen all came for a small party. Grand-dad even played the guitar for the children.
Daniel requested a "moon cake". He received some lovely presents, like the soccer net from Nana and Poppy. He was also lucky enough to have a visit the next day from the Mel, Hamish and Annabelle, and then at Family Day Care another party and a pinata. Phew! Busy times when you are three!

Bits and Pieces

Here are a few photos from the last few weeks. Grandma bought Kate a doll for her birthday and Kate loves to give the doll hugs.
Since it's been so hot we have been going to Dad's for a swim. Kate had her first swim and loved it. She's quite the dare-devil and would love nothing more than to launch herself into the water. Daniel had a great afternoon at the Rocks Riverside Park for Jensen's birthday.
We had a visitor to the deck the other night, this lovely green tree frog. I'm not sure where he lives bu I think he was popping by to see if Gobi had left any food for him.

The Big Day

We had aBIG party for Kate's 1st birthday on 31st October. I figured we did one for Daniel so we needed to do one for Kate as well. It was a "Lady Bug" theme, as you'll notice from the photos! Kate was somewhat overwhelmed with the 34 Adults and 22 children who came. It was a lovely afternoon, not too hot and the kids had fun running in the yard and eating lots of sugar! Thankyou all for your lovely gifts and thankyou for all the help I got!!

Kate turns One!

So hard to believe but Kate is now one, the time has flown that's for sure. We had low key celebrations on her actual birthday. We went to playgroup and then had cake and presents in the evening after Marshall came home. Kate really enjoyed the cupcakes and loved her new dollhouse. Daniel gave Kate some new bath toys.
