A boy and his dog

Now 2 months old

This was taken on Christmas Day, which is close enough to Kate being 2 months old. She's now vocalising alot and smiling. Trying to catch a smile on film is proving to be tricky.

Lord of the Flies

We've had so much rain lately our yard continues to be a soggy mess. Daniel found some mud in the backyard and this is the result.

Daniel turns 2!

Daniel was 2 on 11 December. The celebration lasted a week.... We had a family party on the Sunday before his birthday. Amanda, Nick, Harrison, Ben, Grandpa, Great Nana and Nana and Poppy all came. He received some lovely presents. We had cake, which is always a hit (the blue number 2).
On his birthday we had some playgroup friends over for morning tea, although it wasn't an official party Daniel did receive some more presents. We have enough diggers and loaders to assist with the new tunnels the council is building in Brisbane! I like the photo of Daniel with his party hat, that's how I found him in his room after his sleep, with his hat on. Very funny. Daniel also received a tricycle. It's a bit 'old' for him but I'm sure he'll grow into it pretty soon. He's a big boy at 2yo he's 95cm tall and 15kgs.............

Kate Update

Gosh I have been slack with taking photos of Kate! Must happen with second children..... Anyway, she is now smiling but I haven't got a photo of that. She is also growing like a weed. She's 7 weeks old today. Here are some photos from a few weeks ago.

Any of my OT friends will appreciate the classic ATNR pose.

Katherine at nearly 4 weeks.....

Here is Katherine doing what she's done alot of for the past 4 weeks, sleeping. Even as I type she's sleeping in her chair. Things have been going well. I have had issues with feeding but we are on top of those. She's settling quite well at night and can put up with the noise from her older brother, so that's good! She is putting on weight and growing by the day. I really wonder where the time has gone.

Waterboy

Daniel is taking swiming lessons with Marshall on a Saturday morning. It was incredibly hot last weekend so we went to Grandpa's for a swim. Kate and I watched as the boys (including Gobi) had fun.

Someone's regressing a little.....

With the new addition, Daniel has been a great helper but he is also still wanting to be the baby. Try as he might, unfortunately he's a bit big for the baby things.......

A new baby sister, introducing Katherine Anne Newton

We all welcomed Katherine (Kate) Anne Newton to the world on 29 October 2008. She was 7lbs 7oz or 3.3kgs, 53cm long and 36 cm head. We are all doing well. Daniel is quite taken with "baby Kate" or "tiny" as he likes to call her. Now we are home there's a bit of adjusting but so far so good. Luckily for Mummy Kate is still very sleepy and hasn't really woken up yet and figured she's here for a while yet!

Early Birthday and Christmas for Daniel

Daniel has been lucky. Grandma and Grand-dad came from Townsville to help look after him while I went to hospital. Because we won't see them at christmas or for his birthday he received some early presents. He finally go this very own 'tar or guitar and a massive Tonka truck for the back yard. He really likes to play the guitar for us in the evenings.

Special Visitors at Playgroup

Our Playgroup was lucky enough to have a visit from the local fire brigade. Daniel really enjoyed being able to inspect the truck.

October News

Daniel and I have been busy. Daniel and I met our friends at the Bay a few weeks ago, Daniel unfortunately face planted into the sand, it looks a lot like he's sporting a three day growth but it's just sand. He's also quite taken with drawing and cooking. The next update will probably include photos with his new sister.........

The weekend

The level of activity hasn't decreased, maybe it's the warmer weather? Daniel likes to flex his muscles, climb the pot plant in the back yard and pull all the couch cushions off the couch and chill out with Curious George...... Let's hope it's out of his system in 5 weeks time!

Sorry it's been a while......

It's been a while since I have updated the blog. We have all had the flu and I have been busy working two jobs. I've finished up one now and will finish the second in the next two weeks. Daniel, as always, has been BUSY! Here are a few recent photos.......

Joseph and Daniel enjoying blue berry muffins, Daniel with his 'hat' on (the face he's making is his smiling face), and Daniel on his new bed with sunglasses on (? he thought it was a fun thing to do).

A Morning at Lone Pine

On Wednesay we visited Lone Pine. This was Daniel's first encounter with animals other than the cat or the dog. He loved it. He really liked the lorikeets and was amazed when the white cockatoo said hello to him. At the moment when he smiles he likes to squeeze up his eyes......

It's not paint.....

No this isn't paint, but spaghetti sauce! Daniel has become 'very independent' and insists on feeding himself all meals, as a consequence we spend alot of time cleaning up afterwards.

Monkey Man

Here is Daniel running around as a monkey after his bath, he thinks he's quite special.

Not quite DEVO.....

I haven't shown Daniel any DEVO film clips from the 80's but he seems to have developed a very similar style....... He loves to wear plastic tupperware bowls as hats, and it's seems Daddy doesn't mind either!

He's a dancing machine

Sorry to do another video but Daniel really loves dancing at the moment. At the slightest sound of music he's off. We took him to Southbank where he entertained the crowds with his uncoordinated moves, might have to throw out a hat and see if we can make some money from him! Please enjoy this dance that invented to one of Marshall's old songs.

He wears his sunglasses at night....

Daniel loves hats and glasses. He quite likes Marshall's sunglasses at the moment......
If you can believe it Daniel is now 17 months old. Amazing. He's walking and climbing. He favourite things to do are playing outside in the sandpit or in the yard and looking at books. He has quite few words, many of them indistinguishable! He's lots of fun.

Happiness is......... a new sandpit!

While Grand-dad and Grandma were here a few weeks ago, they helped Marshall build a sandpit. Daniel was very excited by this and couldn't wait to get in. As you see by the video, the pit isn't even full but Daniel is really enjoying it!

Bush Boy

Daniel turned 16 months last week and he's full of energy now! Grandma came and visited for a week and we all went for a drive to Esk and Kilcoy. While we were in Kilcoy we visited with Val's friend Cheryl. Cheryl's property has a creek that runs through the bottom of it, Daniel had a great time exporing the creek, too bad the weather wasn't good otherwise we would have had a swim.

Easter break

Here's Daniel at Cabarita Beach, he really loves the water and could not understand why he couldn't go in for another swim.

Nice hat

We had a visit from Belinda and William who are over visiting from Perth. The boys had a lot of fun on the back deck.

Daniel had lots of fun playing in this bucket of water at the coast, I'm not quite sure why his tongue was out the entire time!

We had a few days at the coast over Easter. Amanda Nick and the boys came down on Sunday for a BBQ. The boys had lots of fun together, they quite enjoyed the Easter egg hunt.
